The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, has identified strategic leadership and effective resource management as critical to sustaining the Nigerian Air Force’s operational effectiveness.

Aneke stated this on Wednesday in Abuja at a Strategic Leadership and Management Workshop and Induction Ceremony organised in collaboration with the Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria.
He said the increasingly complex security environment required military leaders capable of anticipating threats, assessing risks and making decisions with long-term institutional implications.
According to him, the challenge is no longer merely acquiring platforms and equipment, but ensuring that available capabilities are translated into decisive operational effects.
Aneke said strategic leaders must optimise resources, promote innovation, develop subordinates and continuously adapt institutional responses to emerging security threats.
He stressed that leadership development remained a key component of his command philosophy, “Standardised Training and Mission-Focused Capability Development.”
The CAS said the workshop was designed to strengthen senior officers’ capacity in policy formulation, governance, decision-making, organisational effectiveness and resource management.
He urged participants to translate the knowledge acquired into practical improvements in their commands and formations.
Aneke said the induction of eligible officers into the Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria would further strengthen their professional competencies in strategic management and institutional governance.
Earlier, the President of the institute, Mr Alex Enebeli, represented by Dr Otive Igbuzor, said strategic management was essential for improving organisational performance.
Enebeli said the partnership with NAF would equip senior officers with contemporary skills for sound decision-making, effective resource utilisation and institutional development.
